Great Hampstead Bark Off!

On the 15th May, I attended the Great Hampstead Bark Off organised by the fabulous Charity, All Dogs Matter.  They invited me to the event to be one of the judges for the ‘Best Rescue’ class.

As well as this important role, I was given my DREAM JOB as they also asked me to be a taste-testing judge in the Bark Off, which meant sampling dog treats & cakes! Well if you know me, you know I love my food especially my favourite of all foods CAKE!  So it was a firm paws up to helping!  I got to sample yummy dog friendly sushi, fudge & baked treats, but my firm favourite was definitely the fudge. It was all gooey and soft, yummy, yummy in my Cavalier tummy!  After being forced to do ‘Doggie Fit Club’ for over a month by the PA , aka Mummy, doggie fudge was a delight to my taste buds – there’s only so many vegetables a dog can eat you know!!

After I had successfully completed my very tough first mission of the cake tasting, my next important job was to help judge the ‘Best Rescue’ class (well, I had a power nap first but after that).  It was the busiest class of the day & full of so many wonderful dogs.  Like so many amazing rescue dogs, they had overcome adversity & with the help of their loving two-legged pawrents were now very much part of the family.

The PA and I judged alongside Beautiful Joes, Barkers Of Muswell Hill, Hampstead House Sitters & Rachel Riley.

It took a while but eventually we chose some fabulous winners, although every single entry was truly heartwarming!   The judging malarkey is tiring you know, so at the end of the class I fell asleep upside down in the PA’s arms.  I could fall asleep anywhere – the PA says even on a washing line (bit of a silly comment as I don’t think a washing line is made for my curvaceous hips!)  One highlight of my day was getting a tummy tickle from TV’s Rachel Riley, I took it all in my stride, just stayed asleep upside down! She said there’s a website dedicated to pictures of upside down dogs that I should check out! He-he.

We had a little walk round the stands on the day which included Hownd, Natural Instinct, PawPost, Hashtagdogtag, Debby Waldron Cakes, The Artisan Pet Deli, Fetch & Follow and Claire Thorogood Art.  I have to be honest I always have an urge to go to the food related stands first, for research purposes of course!

The sun was shining all day long & inbetween my important jobs of the day, I caught a few rays & had a lovely snooze.  Dogs, cake & sunshine, it really was the perfect way to spend my Sunday.

If you don’t already be sure to pop over & follow All Dogs Matter on their social media pages & support their amazing work.  They have various events throughout the year, so be sure to pop along to one if you can, they are lots of fun!

And remember, always consider adoption if you can – us rescue dogs are pretty pawesome you know.
