I’m just back from a hot but successful agility show held at Coldham, Nr Wisbech. We love this show and have taken part for the last 3 years – it definitely is a ‘must attend event’ in our doggy calenders.
Along with lots of other competitors we travelled up on Friday night and camped for the weekend. The competition started bright and early on Saturday morning as all sorts of different size dogs lined up to take part. This did not include me as mum and dad have had enough with my antics – personally I thought them rather funny! I am one of those dogs who is pawfect in training, jumping like a first rate athlete and at such a speed I would even overtake Usain Bolt! However, once in the competition ring I love nothing more than to stand there looking gormless, as if to say “I’ve never done agility before!’ and just embarrass the pawrents!
But all was not lost…The Barking Bugle was well represented with our Sports Editor Lily, and Events’ Editor, my very own brother Pupstar! Lily arrived on Saturday afternoon just in time to take part in the ‘senior’ classes of the day. Beautifully dressed in a gold and red harness she was totally colour co-ordinated with the agility equipment and the rosettes she won – no wonder her mum calls her ‘Princess Lily!”
Over the weekend brother Pupstar won a 1st place rosette in 3 classes, came 2nd in 2 classes, and achieved a clear round rosette in one class.
The show at Coldham was run under the T & A Agility Club rules and is an independent event. These type of shows are great for all levels of competitors but especially all those new to the sport due their friendless and the good humour of competitors.
Thanks to Natural Instincts for supplying goodie bags to hand out which were very well received and to everyone at Coldham Agility Club for a first rate show. See you next year guys!
We are now back home catching up on some much needed kip before setting off to Stradsett Fun Dog Show next weekend.
